After thinking of all sorts of different ways to alter the studio for our last class, this time I narrowed my ideas down to concepts surrounding the bike rack. This actually means something to me because I use the rack every single day and experience different problems that I wish I could improve! I began by listing the different problems and then finding the needs that should be accounted for.
I came up with a few different mechanical solutions, each with different pros and cons. Next I evaluated ways to make the space smarter. This included tech that would be simple to implement into the bicycle as well as the area surrounding the bicycle. I did my best to evaluate how I actually use the space including maneuvering my bike in and out of the space, what time I usually enter the studio and leave the studio, my strength, height, the fact that I listen to music when I enter and leave, as well as the fact that I am often the first person here and last person to leave.
One way to make the space smart (maybe a little more smart than we actually need the space to be) would be to incorporate an application associated with the bike rack and the people who use it.
